Full Description

{1} Brixworth Glebe, 1972, excavation by D.Hall. Possible C11th-12th stone wall with rubble foundations. A probable C13th building was identified 34ft x 14ft, with four rooms. Possibly associated with the drying kiln and C13th pits found by P.Woods pre 1970.

{2} Minor excavation in 1972 by D.N.Hall revealed a building with 2ft thick walls and a detached room to the west. The site was levelled in the early C18th. Many C17-18th finds including two sixpences of William III.

{3} (SP 747712). Phase four of an excavation in 1972 showed a large building aligned north-south and at least 34ft by 14ft. The house was divided into four rooms probably in the 13th century and seems to be associated with drying kiln and 13th century pits found by Woods. The southern room was destroyed by a later building with thick walls and a small detached room was added west of the building. Demolition and levelling took place in the early 18th century.
