Cropmark of an oval enclosure identified in 1966. Further investigation indicates it was located further to the north.

Full Description

{1} Cropmark recorded in 1966. An oval enclosure at SP708587.

{2} Cropmark is possibly modern and related to a nearby track. See NCCAP:SP7058/001.

{3} SP707586.

{7} Moved to SP708588 in line with excavation results. Most of the features in SMS1 appeared to be associated with a small enclosure at its northern edge. Only one pit close to the enclosure was "typical" of a particular period, a shallow pit containing large rounded burnt stones indicative of Iron Age activity.
