Full Description
{1} An Anglian Water pipeline was put through an area of ploughed out earthworks which had been suggested as representing an Iron Age enclosure. (Trench 260m long and 4m wide.) No feature of earlier than C1st AD date was located. Two parallel ditches, both c.2m wide, and set c.2m apart, were the earliest surviving features discovered on the site. Two worked flints and a few pottery sherds of Belgic-early Romano-British type were also recovered, mainly from residual contexts.
{2} Late Iron Age/early Roman ditches; excavation by S.Steadman.
