Description
{1} Archaeological recording as part of the Salcey to Deanshanger Water Mains Duplication scheme. A trench, 260m long and 4m wide, was excavated. All archaeological features were recorded in plan and where possible sampled. There were two parallel ditches dating to the 1st century AD and the remains of a late medieval stone building close to a still extant hollow way. A watching brief carried out during the excavaiton of the pipe trench through the hollow way did not observe any features earlier than the medieval period.
