Full Description
{1} Archaeological evaluation on land in the centre of Billing identified a post-medieval boundary ditch in both excavated trenches.
The ditch is probably post-medieval in date, although the brick-tile fragment it contained is small enough to be intrusive. It is orientated approximately at right angles to Church Walk which suggests that it probably defined a tenement boundary or sub-division.
Also identified was an oval pit which contained a single fragment of probable C13th tile and three pieces of animal bone. A single medieval pottery sherd recovered from a soil horizon.
