Full Description
{1} Trial trench excavation revealed a series of linear ditches (some containing medieval pottery) probably represent property boundaries. The broad date range for the pottery is AD 1100-1400.
Also identified was a large, vertical-sided pit 1.44m wide and at least 0.92m deep. The pit was excavated to a depth of 0.8m where the water table was encountered, but it continued deeper. Finds from the pit included medieval pottery and animal bone. The feature possibly represents a rubbish pit or well. A small pit or post hole, 0.4m in diameter and 0.14m deep with a shallow, bowl-shaped profile. No finds were retrieved.
