Full Description
{2} A total of 63 pits were excavated and recorded, both inside and outside fo the circuit of the enclosure ditch. Pottery and animal bone were recovered from most of the pit fills. The pits took two forms, rounded bowl shaped or shallow and irregularly shaped. At the south western edge, within the enclosure ditch a group of pits occupied the zone interpreted as the location of the bank. These pits were of late Iron Age date and suggest that the bank had been destroyed by the 1st century BC.
