Full Description

{1} Stoke Bruerne was acquired by the courtier Francis Crane in 1627. By 1635 the house had been rebuilt or remodelled. The main block of the house was altered in the late 18th century; it was severely damaged by fire in 1886. In 1891 a new house in a Jacobean style was built against the NE corner of the east pavilion but this in turn has been demolished except for the basement which survives below the garden.
