Full Description
{1} Concrete tanks located in field known as "The Lower Camp" to the west of 'Top Field'. The tanks occupy a small valley which is fed at its western end, adjoining School Lane, by a small pond, itself supplied from a concrete surrounded spring set in its west side. The tanks comprise three conjoined parts each part of which may be stepped slightly below its western neighbour. The upper tank is the largest measuring approximately 35 metres square. It's inner sides are battered. The lower two tanks are probably of equal size with vertical concrete sides the upper parts of which have in places, collapsed or been removed. The base of all three ponds is believed flat though obscured by weeds and other growth at the time of inspection. All still retain water which in the case of the two lower tanks flows out over the broken eastern sides before flowing down to the stream below. Reportedly used as swimming pool in recent decades. Presumably this was the main camp water supply?
