Full Description

{2} Properties shown in photos 9 and 10 may also be related to boot and shoe manufacture (domestic purposes).

{4} Workshop formerly associated with 9 South Street. Built between 1883 and 1899 (on map evidence). A smaller building to the east of the workshop also appears to be associated with this site, and may have been a small warehouse or a stable and cart house. It is of two storeys and four bays, gabled east-west.
It is likely that the workshop was built at the same time as 9 South Street. It is possible that the workshop was specialising in one area of the shoe-making process (such as closing) rather than functioning as a small-scale production unit.
