Full Description

{1} Ditches containing late Iron Age pottery were discovered during building work on the site. Subsequent excavations revealed a complex of intersecting small curving ditches, apparently parts of hut circles. Roman features including ditches and a corn-drying oven were also found.

{2} Ditches of Iron Age 'A', 'B' and 'C' were found. Romano-British kiln debris, sherds etc, found August 1968.

{4} A superimposed complex of ditches; mostly of the hut circle type; only one of the ditches was excavated; pottery report.

{6} This site has been under the observation of Northampton Museum who as well as the above information note also from here RB kiln debris, sherds etc. found August 1968, on a building site. The housing estate is now completed but no further finds have been reported.
D.N.Hall (Authority {5}) contacted; he states that sherds found (but apparently not mentioned in his article) have been classified by P.Childs (former Keeper Northampton Museum) as IA 'A', 'B' and 'C'. Neither Hall nor the Museum know where the pottery is now.
