Fieldwalking in May 1965 identified a stone area with Romano-British pottery. Further finds have since been made in the area.

Full Description

{1} Fieldwalking in May 1965 identified a stone area with Romano-British pot sherds, including colour-coated wares and Romano-British tile fragments. A total of 6 sherds were recovered. Subsequently more pottery, limestone rubble and roof tiles have been discovered.

(2) OS give SP99428256 as the grid reference.

{4}Roman pottery and building (?) debris.

{5} Listed as a Roman villa.

{6} Dennis Jackson stated that the total finds from this spot numbered "about half a dozen sherds only". The site has recently been ploughed but no finds were made.

{7} SP 99428256. RB sherds including 4th century Castor ware found by D. Jackson May 1965.
