Monument record 3236 - Iron Age & Romano-British Settlement

Please read our .

Summary

A complex of ditched enclosures either side of trackway of probable Iron Age or Roman date is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. Located in a field immediately north of Wollaston is a double ditched D shaped enclosure, with the curvilinear side facing SW. The flat side appears to extend NW and SE 105 metres in the form of one side of a double ditched trackway. On the NE facing side of the trackway is a rectilinear ditched enclosure which appears to be internally divided and further fragments to its NW and SE that suggest two adjoining rectilinear enclosures. Iron Age and Roman finds have been recovered from this area.
