Full Description
{1} The common fields of Marston St. Lawrence were enclosed by an Act of Parliament of 1760. However, all the south part of the parish and a small part in the north was already enclosed by that date and had been since at least the early 18th century. Ridge and furrow of thee fields exists on the ground or can be traced on aerial photos around and north of the village. Where it survives it corresponds exactly with the furlongs depicted on the enclosure map. It is arranged in end-on and interlocking furlongs, many with reversed-S curves and is carefully arranged at right angles to the contours of any major slopes.
