Full Description

{2} Stoke Bruerne settlement remains (SP 742497, 745500) include former hollow-ways (now destroyed) and possible house sites. The construction of the Grand Union Canal through the village accentuated the difference between the E half, centred around a wide crossroads, and the W half based on a small rectangular grid of
lanes (now incomplete but depicted in 1726). However these two components of the village plan must be of ancient origin. Further possible house sites lie SE of the village.
