Summary
A minor rescue excavation was carried out in April 1992. Part of an Anglo-Saxon settlement indicated by a Grubenhaus, which contained Early to Mid Saxon Pottery, found during road construction on the M1-A1 link.

Full Description
{1} A minor rescue excavation was carried out by T. Sharman and G. Cadman in April 1992. A dark feature was revealed in the topsoil stripping, with large burnt stones at the east and west ends of the feature and Early-Middle Saxon pottery and 1 Romano-British sherd. The site was defined as a probable grubenhaus.
{2} A probable sunken featured building was found at Clipston, SP 7101 7931 during road building work on the M1-A1 link. The building contained Early and Mid Saxon pottery.
