Summary

Fieldwalking surveys have identified both Iron Age and Roman pottery. A 'ditch circle' was also recorded in 1964 DNH Database: Pilton/Site 6: Settlement (Significant find scatter)

Full Description

{1} Fieldwalking survey in 1964; Roman pottery sherds and a 'ditch circle' were found;

{2} Only a small fragment of grey ware found; No trace of ditch;

{3}Fieldwalking survey undertaken pre 1976; Iron Age pottery found; area defined by D Hall;

{4}Iron Age and Roman settlement; Iron Age material has now been noted as well as the Roman finds previously recorded;

{5} A dark area lies between sites 6 and 7, seen in 2001. No original notes except field map and fair copy.

{6} SP 99858602 RB sherds and ditch circle found by D Jackson 1964.

{7} Only one small fragment of grey ware was found. No trace of a ditch was seen.
