{1} Owner from 1867 W.B.Stopford (landowner)from 1869 Islip Iron Co.from 1873 Islip Iron Co. from 1875 Islip Iron Co.Ltd.,reconstructed on 8th August 1903, from 1932 Stewarts & Lloyds, from 1st January 1950 Stewarts & Lloyds Minerals Ltd until closure on 29th October 1952. This site is one of the four main sites worked in this area and all connected by tramways to Islip Ironworks. On the Slipton site on both sides of the main street in Slipton are three mines to the north of the village a limestone quarry and a number of smaller ironstone quarries all within an area of the viilage main street. Worked commenced in the area in 1877 and finished in the early 1930's.
