Monument record 8514 - Possible ROC monitoring post

Location of a possible Cold War era monitoring post, although sources appear to contradict each other.

{2}Gibson identifies 19 Observer Posts in Northants during WW2 including that at East Carlton (Identifying number K3, No 12 Group Bedford)

{3} Opened November 1949. Undergrounded 1964. Closed October 1968. Note that this date of opening appears at variance with details in Gibson above.

{4} ROC Monitoing post- not opened. Sub Britt. Visited 20/02/99. 'Attack Warning Red' refers to a site but this was not built. Farmer was approached in the 1950's with a view to construction but this was not pursued. Aircraft Post was said to have existed but no evidence now remains.
