Summary

Iron Age enclosed settlement visible as cropmarks on air photographs. The cropmarks included three main enclosures, and an area of overlapping hut circles, ditches and pits. Fieldwork in the area has revealed Iron Age pottery.

Full Description

{1} Cropmarks of a complex settlement with three main rectangular enclosures and an area of intensive occupation in the form of overlapping hut circles, ditches and pits. Fieldwalking recovered Iron Age pot sherds at TL02558308. Plan.

{2} Thorpe Achurch. TL 026831. St. Joseph AP shows a sub-rectangular enclosure with a small circular cropmark inside it. Fieldwork has produced Iron Age pottery. By D. Jackson, pre 1970. TL026831.

{5} Crop marks are visible at TL 025830 showing a possible building and enclosures.

{6} Site under pasture, no surface disturbances.

{7} A rectilinear enclosure with a possible annexe, two pits and two hut circles with SE facing entraces are visible at this location on HE aerial photographs taken in 2015.

Further features are visible on Google Earth photography from 2005, 2009 and 2010.
