A probable Roman iron working site located south west of Duddington village. Rusty tap slag has also been seen in the field at this location.

Full Description

{3} Iron smelting furnace almost certainly of Romano-British date. Recorded during checking of Northamptonshire section of the Wing to Elton pipeline. More features may have been missed due to disturbance from contractor's vehicles.

{4} Iron smelting furnace found south of the village on limestone. A furnace, almost certainly of Roman date, has been found in a pipeline trench.

{6} The site was under crop and a track during the 1998 field inspection. However soil at the edge of the field revealed numerous pieces of rusty tap slag.
