Abstract/Summary

IN October 2000 a watching brief was carried out during groundworks for the construction of a detached house and garage in Rectory lane, Woodford, Northamptonshire. Levelling of the site prior to the excavation of footings for the buildings revealed a pit of medieval date cut into the natural subsoil near the south-west corner of the site. It also showed that the site has been previously terraced at its east end.
