Two trial trenches were excavated to natural by hand. All archaeological deposits were inspected, cleaned, fully recorded and surveyed with a metal detector. The spoil was spread as far as the confines of the site permitted and also scanned with a metal detector. Two levels of rough stone yard/path were revealed, the lower of which was medieval. Several small and poorly preserved features of uncertain date were also identified. Approximately 200 sherds of medieval pottery were recovered, including wasters.
