Abstract/Summary

An archaeological evaluation was undertaken at Danesfield Farm, Rothersthorpe, in December 2000. The evaluation formed the first stage of a programme of archaeological works proceeding and during development. Two trenches were opened on the east side of the site and were targeted on the footprints of two new houses. A single archaeological feature containing two sherds of medieval pottery and a sherd of Roman pottery as found in one of the trial trenches. Between November 2001 and January 2002 the second stage of works took place. This consisted of the monitoring of excavations for the foundation trenches of housing being developed on the site. No finds were recovered and the only feature encountered was the medieval gully recorded in the evaluation stage.
