Abstract/Summary
Planning permission has been granted for the residential dvelopment at Firs Farm, School Lane, Braybrooke (NGR SP 7652 8427). In Northampton 1999, the applicant was required to commission an archaeological evaluation of the site which indicated the survivial of medieval structural remains in the part of the site fronting onto School Lane. Further investigation of this site was then required as a condition of the development. An area of aproximately 900 square metres bordering on School Lane was stripped by a tracked digger and the subsoil then inspected for surviving archaeological deposits. Archaeological features located by the initial evaluation were located and fully sectioned. Although they produced finds of Medieval pottery this proved to be residual, since more modern material was also located. All the other features found on the site proved also to be modern, but with residual medieval (and in one case prehistoric) finds.
