Abstract/Summary

The limited excavations within the churchyard only demonstrated its intensive use as a burial ground. A very shallow excavation against the west wall of the South Aisle revealed its offset footings and possibly a rubble-filled construction trench. Excavations against and with the South Porch showed the area had been extensivley disturbed, though the upper part of the South Aisle foundations, below the South Door, were exposed. Some doubt has been raised as to the existence of a pre-nineteenth century South Porch. Otherwise, no significant archaeological remains were noted during the watching brief.
