Title | Watching brief: flood alleviation scheme upstream from Dodford Mill, Weedon, Northamptonshire |
Author/Originator | Abrams J. |
Date/Year | 2002 |
Abstract/Summary
Between May and July 2002 a watching brief was carried out by Archaeological Services and Consultancy Ltd during the construction of a flood alleviation scheme upstream from Dodford Mill, Weedon. Two post-medieval field boundaries were recorded. No other significant archaeological features were recorded at this site. However during the excavation of a culvert in the Dam Area, several large pieces of un-worked waterlogged timber were recorded within a layer of apparently naturally derived material. These are believed to be of considerable antiquity as they were from a sealed layer c 5m below the current ground level.
