Abstract/Summary
Three shallow drainage ditches and associated soak-away pits were hand-excavated (by drainage contractor) at the E and S side of the Church. The open trenches and and pits were inspected archaeologically. No significant remains were noted other than traces of burials. The sections of the drain trenches adjacent to the church wall had been previously disturbed by a gravel filled trench running all around the church, however, this only extended down for ablut 20-25cm and therefore any wall foundation trenches could survive quite well. The trench against the E end was cut through an area heavily disturbed by recent dr\inage works, although this is likely to be of very limited extent it is likely that the chancel foundation trenches will generally survive.
