Abstract/Summary
The stable block outbuildings are located in the grounds of the former Manfield Hospital to the east of the main stable-block.The outbuildings are generally constructed of one brick thick solid walls with clay plain tile roofs and were originally used as part of the stable-block complex as stabling, storage for carts and ancillary storage associated with the care and use of horses. The later hospital use (post 1925) is indistinct generally but there is evidence that part of building 1 was used as a mortuary. Building 7 was constructed circa 1975 to 1980 and was purpose designed as a mortuary.
