Abstract/Summary

An archaeological watching brief was carried out during the laying out of a new water main along the verge of the A43 trunk road in the Laxton area. The trenching revealed that the known iron working and Roman settlement area was more extensive than previously recorded. The line of the water main was altered at one location to avoid damage to a large Roman iron smelting furnace.
