Description
Watching brief undertaken during the laying of a water main along the verge of the A43. Much of the trenching was carried out along the verge of the A43 trunk road using a JCB excavator. 0.30m wide trenching was employed where trenches cut through old road surfaces. The line of the water main was altered at one location to avoid damage to a large Roman furnace, where a separate excavation subsequently took place (see ENN19578).
