Abstract/Summary

Archaeological evaluation was undertaken on part of the Scheduled Ancient Monument to supply information for assessing the impact of proposed development. No remains remains associated with either the castle or contemporary domestic occupation was found, and the medieval ditches that were located appear to be plot boundaries. A small assemblage of Romano-British pottery was recovered from a single ditch.
