Abstract/Summary

An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by Northamptonshire Archaeology during the partial re-laying of the stone floor and the installation of hand washing facilities and associated water pipes at St Andrews Church, Barnwell. Examination revealed that later extensions to the church building overlay the earlier cemetery. During the course of the watching brief human remains were noted and a decorated grave slab of probable 13th century date was recovered. This was later incorporated into the fabric of the church.
