Abstract/Summary

Desk based assessment and geophysical survey of land at 49 Queen Street, Geddington, Northamptonshire has revealed the proposal site is somewhat disturbed by garden features, a driveway and tree planting. Although the site is an area where there is archaeological potential, and the land lies not far from an area of Roman period and possibly medieval, iron working, no significant evidence of archaeological activity from the proposed development site has been recovered. The residual interest in the site, due to its location, suggests the most appropriate mitigation strategy is a watching brief carried out during development.
