SNN104863 - Former Allen and Caswell Shoe Factory, 6-28 Cornwall Road, Kettering (Building Recording Report)

This report represents the results of building recording of the former Allen and Caswell shoe factory, Kettering. It includes a brief description of the historic fabric of the building, a short history of the structure and includes the photographic and plan evidence from a site survey undertaken in May 2004. The former Allen and Caswell shoe factory may have been first built in the late 1890s possibly for William Thomas Farey and Son. It was an L shaped factory workshop with a two storey office block fronting Stamford Road built of brick with limestone and sandstone dressings. The factory has remained in the shoe trade for much of its history although the occupants have changed on several occasions.
