Abstract/Summary
A RCHME Level 3 Building survey of 27/29 Guildhall Road, Northampton, was undertaken by the University of Leicester Archaeological Services for Thomas Fish and Sons Ltd in July 2005 in advance of proposed redevelopment and partial demolition of the buildings occupying the south of the site area. No 27 is a Grade II listed building and is described as "an unusual and well preserved example of a 1930s commercial building". No 29 pre-dates No 27 and although not listed is a building of some architectural merit with links to the Co-Operative Society. The alterations and redevelopment proposals have been granted planning consent, with the condition placed on the consent requiring this level of buildilng reporting. The archive will be deposited with the Northamptonshire County record office in due course.
