Abstract/Summary

Fieldwalking has revealed approximately 700 pieces of Roman pottery, concentrated within an area of about 30m.sq. in North Lake Field, Wappenham. Three test pits were dug, two within the centre of the concentration area and one on the edge. The latter produced a solitary sherd of greyware whilst the former produced 198 pieces of Roman pottery, Roman nails, glass and a coin. A structure, possibly part of a wall or the base of a posthole was found. The age range of occupation spans at least C2nd to C4th AD and may include C1st AD.
