Abstract/Summary

The site is currently pasture. Although the site lies adjacent to listed buildings associated with Top Farm, there are no nationally designated monuments within the site. There are no records recorded in the HER that fall within the site boundary. However, there are a number of sites in the immediate vicinity that may extend into the development area. These include Iron Age and Roman settlement and a possibly significant early-middle Saxon settlement. Map evidence suggests that the site has been in agricultural use since at least the post-medieval period, probably associated with Top Farm.
