Abstract/Summary

Fieldwalking of 15ha was undertaken to complete survey of a c.49ha parcel of arable land. Large amounts of modern detritus were noted on the surface of the three walked fields but very little archaeologically significant material was identified. Previous archaeological investigations have identified two locations where subsurface features suggest the presence of Romano-British or Iron Age farmsteads. Alsence of surface archaeological finds above these features suggests that minimal damage is being caused by the current agricultural regime and indicates that the results of fieldwalking would not enable accurate interpretation of the scale of human activity within the proposal area during these periods.
