Abstract/Summary

An archaeological field evaluation by trial trenching was undertaken on land at Maidwell Hall School in advance of proposed rugby pitches. Five trenches and a test pit were excavated in an area defined as having archaeological potential as it lies in an area of archaeological interest. The trenches targeted geophysical survey anomalies of possible archaeological origin. The trial trenching revealed potential prehistoric and Roman features and a trackway associated with a former avenue approach to Maidwell Hall from the south.
