Abstract/Summary

An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by Northamptonshire Archaeology during the construction of a new driveway and parking bays on land at 5-6 Pipe Lane, Warkton, Northamptonshire. Walls and floor surfaces belonging to a former medieval house fronting onto the lane were revealed. The pottery assemblage indicates that occupation in this area dates back to the 12th century, and the cottage would have been occupied in the 13th and 14th centuries, before being abandoned and levelled. This particular plot has never subsequently been reoccupied.
