Abstract/Summary

Northamptonshire Archaeology was commissioned by CgMs Consulting to undertake a magnetometer survey across a proposed development area to the west of Irthlingborough, Northamptonshire. A number of highly magnetic features, suggestive of lime kilns were identified. Magnetically disturbed areas were detected, likely to be a by-product of the industrial past of the site. Several former quarry pits of various sizes were also located. The site was found to retain the patchwork pattern of medieval field systems.
