Abstract/Summary
Northamptonshire Archaeology were commissioned by the 78 Derngate Trust to carry out a desk-based study, an archaeological buildings recording action and watching brief at 82 Derngate, Northampton. The work was carried out prior to and during the conversion of the building into the visitor centre for 78 Derngate. The buildings recording action comprised the annotation of architects’ plans a room by room survey and a photographic record of the building prior to and during the conversion. The desk-based study was able to establish some of the previous occupiers of the building. The buildings recording action was able to establish the form and function of the building and the alterations which the building had undergone since it was built in the early 1800s.
