Abstract/Summary

Archaeological evaluation was carried out at St John's Car Park, Northampton, as a result of a proposal by Northampton Borough Council to erect a multi-storey car park on the site of part of the present surface car park. Since the area lies within the former extent of the medieval town of Northampton it was thought that important archaeological deposits might survive below the existing ar park. Archaeological evaluation was undertaken over the course of seven weeks in June-July 1989.
