Abstract/Summary

This report presents the results of archaeological trench evaluation undertaken by Network Archaeology in advance of the redevelopment and construction of 12 residential dwellings and associated services at 34 Brackley Road, Silverstone (NGR 466583 243335 centre) (figure 1). The proposed development area (PDA) occupied 1.42ha of open ground to the east of Silverstone Manor (figure 2) within an area the Historic Environment Record (HER) identified as forming part of the Medieval village of Silverstone (SMR 745). The evaluation trenches were laid out to investigate both the footprints of new buildings and areas of proposed landscaping. The evaluation, which was commissioned by Palladian Homes, was undertaken by up to 2 archaeologists between February 7th and February 9th 2012. Further information, including the archaeological and historical background, geology and technical information can be found in the Written Scheme of Investigation in Appendix A.
