Abstract/Summary

Wardell Armstrong Archaeology were commissioned by Roundhill Northampton Ltd, to undertake an archaeological evaluation at Marsh Spinney, Moulton, Northamptonshire. This work followed a planning application for the construction of a residential development. The archaeological evaluation was undertaken to investigate geophysical anomalies and also apparently 'blank' areas of the site. The archaeological evaluation was undertaken over five days between the 14th and 18th of October 2013. The evaluation involved the excavation of seven trenches, totalling 1% of the development area. No archaeological remains were noted within the trenches. Although the geophysical survey detected possible evidence for possible ridge and furrow cultivation, no furrows were observed within the trenches, either in plan or section, suggesting these anomalies related to relatively recent cultivation.
