Abstract/Summary

Northamptonshire Archaeology conducted an archaeological desk-based assessment for 62 Gold Street, Desborough, Northamptonshire, including land to the rear. The site is located within an area of closes that predate parliamentary enclosure. The standing building at 62 Gold Street is registered on the Historic Environment Record and appears on 18th-century maps, but it is not a Listed Building. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries the property was occupied by the Kilburn family, who were tradesman in the building industry. Three other 18th-century buildings have been demolished within the site. No other known archaeological sites or finds are known from the site and it is considered that there is a low probability of prehistoric, Roman or Anglo-Saxon remains being present.
