Abstract/Summary

An archaeological trial trench evaluation was undertaken in May 2013 by University of Leicester Archaeological Services on behalf of Hirons and Loydall Ltd. on land to the rear of 29 Yelvertoft Road, Lilbourne, Northamptonshire. The fieldwork was undertaken in advance of the erection of a new dwelling, in order to assess the potential impact of the development on any archaeological remains that may have been present particularly associated with standing medieval earthworks visible a short distance to the north. The archaeological evaluation produced evidence for a ditch which produced pottery and brick of 19th century date.
