Abstract/Summary

An archaeological trial trench evaluation was undertaken by MOLA at Wall Tree Farm, Farthinghoe, prior to the proposed development on the site. Thirty-six trial trenches were excavated across three fields. A series of Roman ditches dating between the 2nd and 4th centuries AD, likely formed part of a rural farmstead, including a small ring ditch in Trench 9. In field 2, there were two postholes dating between the 1st and 3rd centuries AD, and all three fields had remanant furrows of medieval ridge and furrow cultivation
