Abstract/Summary

An outbuilding to the rear of 22 High Street, Deanshanger. Thought to be a former barn, which may have been present by the late 18th century, although it could not be specifically identified on the 1772 Inclosure Map. Although it was not clear what the barn may have originally been used for, local, oral history indicates that it was in use as an animal shelter, stable and coal shed at various times. It is currently used as mixed residential and store.
